PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device for moving handrail of passenger conveyor, capable of obtaining high cleaning performance. SOLUTION: The cleaning device 1 set on a floor 7 below a reversing part 5 for a moving handrail 3 formed of an endless belt at both sides of a passenger conveyor comprises a drive roller 29 rotated by pressure contact with the moving handrail 3 on the lower side of the reversing part 5 of the moving handrail 3; a power transmitting mechanism (a worm 31, a worm wheel 37, and flat gears 39, 45, and 51) for transmitting rotation of the drive roller 29; a cleaning roller 27 rotated around an axis parallel to the lateral direction of the moving handrail 3 by power transmission through the power transmitting mechanism to bring the outer circumferential surface thereof with a cleaning agent (detergent 65) adhered thereto into contact with the outer circumferential surface of the moving handrail 3 and wiping and cleaning the outer circumferential surface of the moving handrail 3; and a cleaning agent supply means (a detergent feed roller 57 and a detergent container 23a) for supplying the cleaning agent to the outer circumferential surface of the cleaning roller 27.
