<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit associated information while the amount of transmission of the associated information has been reduced. <P>SOLUTION: Video information from a DVD 27 is subjected to compression coding and encoded at an MPEG encoder section 20B and is transmitted in a packet. The associated information for controlling video information is processed simultaneously. The associated information is separated from the video information for processing. The video information generates a small number of errors, so that it is encoded in UDP protocols. The associated information is encoded based on TCP protocols by considering errors. The associated information is coded at a coding information generation section 34. The information is not transmitted over the entire period where the associated information is inserted, but the associated information and only information related to the accompanying information are compressed for transmission only for the first and last insertion periods of the associated information. Information for indicating the type of the accompanying information, and information for indicating the start/end of the accompanying information are encoded, thus greatly reducing the amount of information to be transmitted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
