<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic musical instrument and a program in which a program regarding octave shift is not required to change, even if keyboards of any number of keys are combined and mounted. <P>SOLUTION: A keyboard unit is constituted so as to output key-depressing information of a note "C1", when the lowest key is pressed, regardless of the number of keys. When the electronic musical instrument is constituted with a keyboard unit attached to an upper keyboard and a lower keyboard, the lowest note of a lower keyboard may always be "C1" (not requiring octave shift), but when the lowest note of an upper keyboard is "C1" (octave shift not required) in one case, and is "C2" (requiring octave shift), according to the number of keys of an adopted keyboard unit. Thus, according to the number of keys of the keyboard unit attached to the upper keyboard, it is set according whether the octave shift is required.
