<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR device for detecting abnormality in an elastic member in an early stage. <P>SOLUTION: An ECU performs abnormality detection in the EGR device 50 when it is determined that a vehicle is in a deceleration state during driving the vehicle loaded with an engine body. In the abnormality detection, when an opening of a valve member 52 of the EGR device 50 is zero, energization of an actuator 53 is stopped after once energizing the actuator 53 to open the valve member 52. When the opening of the valve member 52 is not zero, the energization of the actuator 53 is stopped as it is. In case of the abnormality being generated in a spring 54, the opening of the valve member 52 is not smaller than a prescribed value even when the energization of the actuator 53 is stopped, when the ECU determines that the abnormality is generated in the spring 54. In detecting the abnormality, the valve member 52 of the EGR device 50 is opened/closed in the deceleration state of the vehicle. Accordingly, the abnormality in the spring 54 is detected in the early stage without affecting an exhaust emission performance and driving performance of the engine body 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
