<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel drive unit that can suitably provide display by processing a video signal through software when improving the resolution while maintaining the configuration of current color filters. <P>SOLUTION: Each color filter 1 of the liquid crystal display panel has one pixel formed correspondingly to respective red (R), green (G), blue (B), and white (W) sub-pixels. The display panel drive unit is provided with a double interpolation unit for interpolating respective pixels based on an input signal at least in a vertical scanning direction, a brightness conversion unit for converting respective color signals of interpolated sub-pixels into brightness signals, a color adding unit for adding a white (W) color signal component on the basis of red (R), green (G), blue (B) color signal components, and a virtual signal producing unit for re-distributing brightness signals of the colors of surrounding interpolation sub-pixel space 2 in accordance with the colors of color filters corresponding to the sub-pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
