PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for embedding information in a sound signal and a device for extracting information from the sound signal such that when the additional information is embedded in the sound signal, it is made easy to specify an extraction position and extraction precision can be improved. SOLUTION: The sound signal is sectioned in a predetermined section, and states of the low-frequency components are changed according to a bit pattern to be embedded. At this time, extraction is performed so that spectrum sets SP2, SP4, SP6, and SP8 of a rear part of the specified section are offset by a frequency Fd from spectrum sets SP1, SP3, SP5, and SP7 of a front part. Consequently, when the pattern is extracted on an extraction side by using an L-ch signal, it becomes easy to judge intensities of the front part and rear part, and the precision of extraction of the pattern increases.
