<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic appliance in which information size of an image or the like displayed on a screen can be changed by natural operation feeling. <P>SOLUTION: In a portable telephone 10, a sensor 18 constructed of, for example, a 3-axial acceleration sensor is built in the vicinity of a display unit 12 which is provided on a body 11 of the portable telephone. When a user moves the display unit 12 along a vertical direction (Z-axis direction) with respect to a display screen thereof while the user holds the appliance body 11, the sensor 18 senses both a move direction and a move amount of the display unit 12, and thus, information displayed on the display screen of the display unit 12 is enlarged, or compressed in display magnification (scale factor) defined in response to the sensed move amount.
