PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program selection method with which a viewer is enabled an easy identification of a desired program when the viewer sequentially views video images of programs in order to select the program. SOLUTION: Within a display picture, a list of still picture frames 903 capturing scenes of programs through zapping is displayed together with program titles. Furthermore, a still picture frame 409 capturing scenes of a program being viewed just before zapping is displayed. Moreover, program contents 401 of a video stream under viewing and a program content explanation 402 are displayed. The viewer selects a program from the list of still picture frames.
