PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device in which the resolution in the horizontal direction is proper, the color space area is expanded, and color reproducibility is proper, and with which a high quality image can be obtained. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display panel 8, a scanning line, having a pixel constituted of sub-pixels of red, green, blue, and cyan and a scanning line having a pixel, constituted of sub-pixels of red, green, blue, and yellow, are arranged alternately. A data conversion part 3 converts an input image signal into image data signals of red, green, blue, cyan, and yellow. A drive waveform generating part 4 generates pulse signals for alternately outputting the image data signals of cyan and yellow for each scanning line, in synchronizm with the horizontal synchronization signal. The image data signals, horizontal synchronization signal and the pulse signals are input to a signal output control part 5, and the image data signals of red, green and blue, and the image data signal of cyan or yellow are output to a source drive part 7 in synchronization with the horizontal synchronous signal.
