PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch and control an operation state to keep a compressing mechanism in a proper driving state, in a refrigerating device where a single-stage compressing operation and a two-stage compressing operation are switchable. SOLUTION: This refrigerating device 1 comprises a refrigerant circuit 10 having a booster compressing mechanism 41 and a high stage-side compressing mechanism 11, and is switchable between the single-stage compressing operation where a refrigerant bypasses the booster compressing mechanism 41 and is compressed only by the high stage-side compressing mechanism 11, and the two-stage compressing operation where the refrigerant is compressed by the booster compressing mechanism 41 and the high stage-side compressing mechanism 11. In this refrigerating device 1, a switch control portion 101 of a controller 100 switches the operation state to perform the single-stage compressing operation when the difference between high and low pressures as pressure difference between high-pressure refrigerant and low-pressure refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit 10 is less than a prescribed first set pressure value P1, and to perform the two-stage compressing operation when the pressure difference between high and low pressures is more than the prescribed first set pressure value P1.
