PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidizing agent which is useful as the oxidizing agent for producing an electrically-conductive polymer by oxidative polymerization, has high electric conductance, and is suitable for producing an excellently heat-resistant electrically-conductive polymer, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The oxidizing agent for producing the electrically-conductive polymer comprises an organic sulfonic acid iron (III) salt, wherein the organic sulfonic acid iron (III) salt contains the iron (III) at a stoichiometrically excess quantity than the organic sulfonic acid, and the organic sulfonic acid salt and the iron (III) salt have an equivalent weight ratio of 1:1.02 to 1:1.5. The method for producing the oxidizing agent is a method wherein iron (III) sulfate and an organic sulfonic acid are used as starting materials to have a ratio of 1.02-1.5 equivalent of the former relative to 1 equivalent of the latter, and are reacted in a solvent to synthesize the organic sulfonic acid iron (III) salt.
