PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for preparing tiotropium bromide that is an anti-asthma agent. SOLUTION: This method for producing the tiotropium bromide comprises a process of reacting N-demethyl-tiotropium with methyl bromide. The preparation of the N-demethyl-tiotropium comprises a process of reacting a scopine salt containing approximately 0.5 to approximately 40 wt.% salt of which the counter anion is selected from a group consisting of Br, Cl, SO<SB>4</SB>, MeCOO, PO<SB>4</SB>, MeSO<SB>3</SB>, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, citric acid, maleic acid, succinic acid, p-toluene sulfonic acid and an amide sulfonic acid, with methyl-di-(2-thienyl)-glycolate.
