PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust collecting filter for a vacuum cleaner, which has an increased dust collecting capacity, and a vacuum cleaner using the same. SOLUTION: The filter includes a bag member 6 formed of unwoven resin cloth having air permeability and flexibility, and having suction port 7, and a support plate 9 installed at the suction port 7, and having a dust suction port 8. Part of a back surface of the bag member 6 is welded to provide a weld part 10 having a higher rigidity than those of other parts. As part of the back surface of the bag member 6 is pushed back by suction blow when operation of the vacuum cleaner is started, the whole back surface of the bag member 6 is pushed backward to greatly enlarge the bag member 6, thereby more dust can be collected.
