PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparation of itaconic acid by continuous fermentation method stably preserving a high productivity for a long time in a simple operation. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for preparation of itaconic acid by continuous fermentation comprising separating a culture medium into filtrate and non-filtrate, collecting the itaconic acid which is a desired fermentation product from the filtrate and holding or circulating the non-filtrate in the culture medium, wherein the production efficiency of the itaconic acid is remarkably improved stably with reduced cost by using a specific nonocclusive porous membrane with a high permeability, a high cell rejection and filtering in a specific reduced pressure difference between membranes.
