<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus achieving optimum control of light emission even when photographing a subject including ambient light of a predetermined level or higher. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging means for forming an image of a subject on a predetermined imaging face, thereby imaging a subject image; a light emitting means for illuminating a subject; a light emission control means for controlling emission of light from the light emitting means; an ambient light detecting means for determining presence of ambient light in the subject. When the ambient light detecting means determines no ambient light, a light emission control means subjects the light emitting means to first light emission control so that the light emitting means emits light until a quantity of light reflected from the subject reaches a predetermined quantity. When the ambient light detecting means determines the ambient light, the light emission control means subjects the light emitting means to second light emission control so that the light emitting means emits a quantity of light, calculated in advance according to the subject. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
