PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition for a shampoo, a body shampoo, a cleansing agent, a face wash or the like, having excellent thickening effects of enabling the viscosity to be regulated from a viscous liquid to a semisolid or a gel shape according to the application while keeping the properties. SOLUTION: The detergent composition contains a 12-22C tetraalkyl-polyoxyethylene-pentaerythritol wherein the addition molar number of ethylene oxide is 2 to 200 as the total, and/or a 6-22C monoacyl-polyoxyethylene-glyceryl wherein the addition molar number of the ethylene oxide is 3 to 80, in combination according to the application of the product.
