A parameter scanning for signal oversampling is provided to prevent degradation of display quality of audio-visual data caused by degraded signal quality. An equalizer(315) equalizes received data values. A sampler(320) oversamples the equalized data. An eye monitor(340) generates information about quality of signal eyes with respect to the oversampled data. An equalizing monitor generates information about sufficiency of signal equalization. A scan engine(345) scans possible values of a plurality of parameters with respect to a device. The scanning of the parameters includes adjusting the parameters based on received signal quality information and evaluating the parameters, and the received signal quality information includes information about the sufficiency of signal equalization and the information about the signal eyes with respect to the oversampled data from the eye monitor.
