PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a maximum open angle of an image reading apparatus can be set appropriately and whose body does not fall down by opening/closing of the image reading apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a regulation member 30 for regulating an open angle of an image reading means. The regulation member 30 has, at the edge, an axis supporting hole 30c capable of supporting an axis rotatably by an axis supporting member fixed to the image reading means; a first sliding groove 30a slidably engaged to a first engagement member fixed to the body of the apparatus in the longitudinal direction of the regulation member; and in parallel with the first sliding groove 30a, a second sliding groove slidably engaged to a second engagement member 41 formed on one edge of an energizing means whose other edge is fixed to the body of the apparatus.
