A portable terminal having a battery locking device is provided to release a locking state of a battery by pushing a locker as detaching the battery in vertical direction so as to use a lower terminal space and an upper terminal space, thereby improving space utility. A battery is mounted on a battery mounting unit(14) formed on a terminal body(10), and is equipped with a locking groove on one side. A push button(30) is installed in vertical direction of the terminal body so as to conduct push operation. A slide member is disposed under the push button, and moves in horizontal direction when the push button is pressed in vertical direction to release a locking state of the battery by being separated from the locking groove.
