PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the user to easily understand communication functions a communication terminal device on the other side of the line can use. SOLUTION: The communication system comprises a plurality of mobile phones 10 connected to a communication network and a switchboard 13 which manages the communication functions the plurality of mobile phones 10 can use. When the switchboard 13 receives a request for communication from the mobile phone 10A on the calling party, it determines the communication functions the mobile phone 10A can use and notifies the mobile phone 10B on the receiving side of the communication functions, while at the same time determining the communication functions the mobile phone 10B can use and notifying the mobile phone 10A of the communication functions. Then, the mobile phones 10A and 10B on the calling and receiving sides display the communication functions the other party's mobile phone 10B and 10A can use which have been notified by the switchboard 13.
