PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of easily manufacturing a high performance rod lens array, a method having high yield, reduced irregularities of rod lens array, and a high production efficiency. SOLUTION: The method is composed of manufacturing processes and a cutting process. The manufacturing processes include a coating process where the surface of a first substrate 2 is coated with a first adhesive 30 with a thickness Z11; a press process in which a plurality of optical transmission members are first arranged, in parallel on an arraying plate, pressed next against the first adhesive on the substrate, and stuck to the first substrate; a coating process, in which a second adhesive 36 is applied, in a form of a plurality of belts, to the surface of the second substrate 4 with a width W2 (0.5 mm≤W2≤2 mm), a pitch P, and a thickness Z2 (0.5D≤Z2≤D); a second press process, in which the second-adhesive-coated-side of the second substrate and the optical-transmission-member-stuck-side of the first substrate are superimposed on each other and pressed, so that the extending direction of the second adhesive and the longitudinal direction of the optical transmission member are made to orthogonally intersect. The cutting process is such that the original plate of the optical transmission member array is cut with a pitch P mm perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the optical transmission member.
