PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation status storing apparatus and image data storing method selecting and storing important image data in a storing device. SOLUTION: The operation status storing apparatus comprises a camera 1 mounted on a vehicle V, an acceleration detecting means 2 for detecting acceleration Gx, Gy of the vehicle V, a storing means 34 for storing image data including image data photographed when the camera 1 satisfies a condition that respective absolute values of the detected acceleration Gx, Gy exceed respective threshold valuesα,β, a position detecting means 4 for detecting a position of the vehicle V, and a geographical condition determining means 35 for determining a geographical condition based on the position of the vehicle, wherein the threshold value is set based on the geographical condition.
