PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of suppressing occurrence of problems such as blade curling and application of too much load on drive of a photoreceptor while retaining high removing performance, and also to provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge equipped with the same. SOLUTION: In the cleaning device, a blade 31 which is long in a rotating shaft direction of a photoreceptor 10 is used and a contact side of the blade extending in its longitudinal direction is pressed against a surface of the photoreceptor 10 to remove a deposit on the photoreceptor surface. The cleaning device is equipped with: a holding mechanism 32, 34, 38 which is supported by a cleaning frame 33 on a downstream side of a normal N of a contact portion P with which the contact side on the photoreceptor surface contacts in a moving direction of the photoreceptor surface, and which holds the blade so that, when the blade receives force by which it heads to the downstream side in the moving direction of the photoreceptor surface from the photoreceptor, the blade can be displaced to a direction in which the whole blade is detached from the photoreceptor surface; and a compression spring 39 which applies elastic force in a direction reverse to the direction in which the blade is detached from the photoreceptor surface to the blade.
