PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible adjusting option for intermittently lifting an upper side feeder during sewing operation, by improving a sewing machine. SOLUTION: This sewing machine 1 has the function of sewing both two pieces of materials, while incorporating fullness. The sewing machine has housings 2, 3 and 4 and a needle bar 9 having a needle vertically driven by a needle drive 7, and operates for sending the two materials of a lower side feeder and the upper side feeder. Lifting mechanisms 26 and 32 intermittently lift the upper side feeder relative to the lower side feeder during the sewing operation. The lifting mechanisms have a motor independent of the needle drive, that is, a lifting driving motor 26 fixed to the housings. This motor interacts with a lifting drive control device 30.
