PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slot machine capable of improving an entertainment characteristic, and a control method thereof. SOLUTION: During a base game, some of a plurality of symbols scrolled in the display areas 28 (28a-28e) of a liquid crystal display device 17 are rearranged prior to some other symbols. When detecting player's touching operation on the touch panel of the display areas 28 requesting the shift of the positions of some of the symbols which have already been rearranged before some other symbols are rearranged, the positions on the display areas 28 of some of the symbols which have already been rearranged are shifted.
