<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery capable of suppressing increase in discharge polarization and enhancing discharge characteristics even in heavy load discharge. <P>SOLUTION: Manganese dioxide powder in which the peak position on the diffraction surface having a Miller index in powder X-ray diffraction measurement using CuKα as X-ray source of (110) is 20.5-21.7 degrees and ratio of the peak intensity of diffraction surface having a Miller index of (130) to the peak intensity of diffraction surface having a Miller index of (021), I(130)/I(021) is 0.1 or less is used in a positive electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
