<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating stable water-based coating wastewater which enables the efficient coagulation of COD components in water-based coating wastewater, and to provide its apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for treating water-based coating wastewater, the water-based coating wastewater is heated to the cloud point of water-soluble polymers where suspension of pigments and resins contained in the water-based coating wastewater occurs, and the heated temperature is maintained to perform solid-liquid separation. In such a case, preferably a coagulant is added while maintaining the heated temperature of the water-based coating wastewater heated to the cloud point.
