<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter made by an ink jet method and excellent in both color purity and high contrast, and a display device using it. <P>SOLUTION: The color filter has dark color separation walls and red (R), green (G), and blue (B) pixels formed on a panel by an ink jet system spraying the ink drops containing pigments. When expressing the color points (x, y) of the pixels by using the F10 light source in the XYZ color system (CIE1931), the R-pixel color point satisfies (0.635≤x≤0.665, 0.31≤y≤0.35), the G-pixel color point (0.25≤x≤0.34, 0.56≤y≤0.65), and the B-pixel color point (0.13≤x≤0.15, 0.08≤y≤0.12). The contrast ratio of the (R), (G) and (B) pixels is 2,000 or larger, respectively.
