<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output control type luminaire capable of easily confirming whether lighting output is correctly controlled, and particularly capable of easily confirming whether the lighting output is correctly controlled even when the lighting output is controlled to about 100% of the output maximum value, in an output control type luminaire. <P>SOLUTION: This output control type luminaire 1 is provided with: a discharge lamp 2; a brightness detection means 6 detecting the brightness of the discharge lamp 2; and a control part 7 controlling the lighting output to set the brightness of the discharge lamp 2 at a brightness target value according to the detection result of the brightness detection means 6.
