PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise suppressing apparatus capable of reducing excessive suppression in a high region of a voice period, while maintaining suppressing capability in a noise period. SOLUTION: A noise suppression calculating section 31 calculates a noise suppression amount G(k) by using a signal to noise ratio SNR(k). A noise suppression amount upper limit calculating section 32 calculates an upper limit of the noise suppression amount as G_MAX(k)=log10[powä10,-(SNR_all×A-(B-k/N×C))/20}/D], where A, B, C and D are constants, by using a signal to noise ratio SNR_all of a whole band. A noise suppression amount upper limit limiting section 33 calculates a gain as G_new(k)=pow[10,MAXä-G(k)-G_MAX(k)}], by using the noise suppression amount G(k) and the upper limit of the noise suppression amount G_MAX(k). Thus, by limiting the noise suppression amount G(k) by the upper limit G_MAX(k), husky sound caused by the excessive suppression is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
