PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evacuating and sealing device which is capable of surely sealing a package having an element stored therein, inexpensively so that an internal space of the package is kept in an evacuated state. SOLUTION: The evacuating and sealing device closes an opening connecting the inside and the outside of the package, with molten metal in an evacuated atmosphere and solidifies the molten metal to seal the package so that its internal space is kept in an evacuated state, and the evacuating and sealing device includes a chamber, an evacuating means for reducing a pressure in the chamber, and a molten metal supply means 5 which is provided in the chamber and supplies molten metal 20 into the opening of the package. The molten metal supply means 5 includes a reservoir 510 having the molten metal stored therein, a nozzle 52 which connects with the reservoir 510 and has a discharge port through which the molten metal is discharged toward the opening, and a valve body 53 which is placed in the vicinity of the discharge port to open/close the discharge port. The molten metal supply means 5 is so configured that the molten metal 20 is supplied toward the opening of the package from the discharge port during opening of the valve body 53.
