PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record speech communication contents by automatically switching a cordless telephone system to an automatic telephone message recording mode when there is an incoming call to a slave set which is not within a zone of communication with a master set in a state wehrein an automatic telephone message recording function is not set effective. SOLUTION: The master set 20 includes an automatic telephone message recording mode setting unit 271 which makes the automatic telephone message recording function effective or ineffective, a communication zone decision means 241 of deciding whether a slave set 30 is within the communication zone, and a sound recording/playback unit 29 which records a message of a caller and reproduces the recorded message. When the automatic telephone message recording mode setting unit 271 is set so that automatic telephone message recording is made ineffective, the communication zone decision means 241 decides whether the slave set 30 is within the communication zone in response to an incoming call to a specified slave set 30 and when it is decided that the slave set 30 is not within the communication zone, the automatic telephone message recording function is made effective to record the message of the caller by the sound recording/playback unit 29.
