PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for driving a plasma display panel that can be driven at a low voltage and prevent undesired discharge from being generated, under a high-temperature environment. SOLUTION: The method and apparatus for driving the plasma display panel includes a step of supplying an initialization signal, including at least one rise period, where a voltage rises and at least one sustain period where the voltage is sustained to first and second electrodes to make cells initialize, and a step of supplying a scan signal to either the first or the second electrodes and supplying the data to a third electrode and selecting the cell.
