PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ammonium borohydride without eluting it in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a hydrogen storage material includes; a process (S101) in which a raw material composition, which contains an ammonium salt and borotetrahydride, is gained; and a process (S103) in which the raw material composition is applied with mechanical energy to gain a reaction product of the ammonium salt and borotetrahydride. One or more substances selected from NH<SB>4</SB>Cl, NH<SB>4</SB>NO<SB>3</SB>and (NH<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>SO<SB>4</SB>are used as the ammonium salt, and one or more substances selected from LiBH<SB>4</SB>, NaBH<SB>4</SB>and KBH<SB>4</SB>are used as the borotetrahydride.
