PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slot machine capable of improving an entertainment characteristic, and a control method thereof. SOLUTION: During a base game, if the number of times of the stop of a winning combination of "CHERRY" on paylines La-Le, L1-L5, Lx and Ly in the display areas 28 (28a-28e) of a liquid crystal display device 17 reaches 5 times, a special game is performed for 10 times. During the special game, when detecting player's touching operation on the touch panel of the display areas 28 requesting the shift of the positions of symbols after the respective symbols are rearranged on the display areas 28 of the liquid crystal display device 17, the positions of the symbols which have already been rearranged in some (for instance, the display areas 28a1, 28a2, 28b1 and 28b2) of the display areas 28 are shifted.
