PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device and a liquid crystal display device capable of preventing an image-quality deterioration of animation. SOLUTION: The device includes a light source 7 for directing light to a panel 3 for displaying images by transmitting light with its light transmission state updated every predetermined period, a driving part 6 for driving the light source 7, and a control part 4 for flickering the light from the light source 7 plural times in the predetermined period by controlling the driving part 6.
