PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a printer, etc. which can certainly control an object to be driven, such as a sheet feeding motor, etc. required for driving in a plurality of modes without error. SOLUTION: The control method of the printer having a driven unit to be driven to move a print medium, etc., a drive control means for performing the drive control of the driven unit, and a memory comprises the step of executing a measurement each time when the drive control means receives a drive command, the step of obtaining a limit threshold value of an allowable maximum current value based on a measurement value by the drive control means, and the step of performing the drive control of the driven unit based on the measurement value and the limit threshold value by the drive control means. In the case that the drive speed designated by the drive command is a normal speed when the limit threshold value is obtained, a parameter stored in the memory is used.
