<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an apparatus while increasing the accuracy of an overall image about a plurality of portions of a subject, such as the fingerprint of a finger read by a sensor and a blood vessel. <P>SOLUTION: A first image pickup device for picking up images of the first portion of the subject picks up images of the moving subject in succession (S5a) after picking up the overall image of the first portion (S3). Then a second image pickup device for picking up images of the second portion of the subject picks up images of the moving subject in succession (S5b). Thereafter, the image processing apparatus calculates the amount of change of the subject due to movement on the basis of the correlation among the successive images obtained of the first portion of the subject (S6) and, based on the calculated amount of change due to movement, creates the overall image of the second portion out of the successive images obtained of the second portion of the subject (S7). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
