<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer protective film which has a viewing angle characteristics not too large with less color changes, and also has an optical compensation function not producing uneveness such as frame-shaped uneven areas by the heat of the back light, and to provide its manufacturing method, a polarizer and a liquid crystal display using it. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizer protective film has an optical compensation function containing a thermoplastic resin and is 10-45 μm thick with Ro of 5-20nm and Rth of 70-120nm as expressed in the following expression. (i) Ro=(nx-ny)×d (ii) Rth=((nx+ny)/2-nz)×d, where nx represents the maximum refractive index of in the plane, ny refractive index in the direction of nx in the plane, nz refractive index in the film thickness direction, each being 590nm, and d denotes the film thickness (nm). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
