<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo detector capable of suppressing an enlargement while inhibiting the generation of false colors. <P>SOLUTION: The photo detector has a spectral element 6 spectrally diffracting luminous fluxes and a light receiving section 8 having a color filter having a plurality of colors and receiving each of the luminous fluxes spectrally diffracted by the spectral element 6 through the color filter.
