<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device preventing the deterioration in contrast due to alignment control of vertically aligned liquid crystal and, thereby, materializing a high-quality display with wide viewing angle and high contrast. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is a liquid crystal display device of vertically alignment mode having a liquid crystal layer 50 containing liquid crystal which has negative dielectric anisotropy between a pair of substrates 10, 25, wherein electrodes 79, 86 for driving liquid crystal are respectively formed on liquid crystal layer 50 sides of the pair of substrates 10, 25, dielectric protrusions (alignment control means) 83 to 85 of controlling the alignment of the liquid crystal are disposed on one side substrate 25, light-shielding parts (light-shielding means) 88a to 88c which are planarly superimposed on the alignment control means 83 to 85 and are made of metal film are disposed on the other side substrate 10, and the light-shielding parts 88a to 88c are arranged so as to be electrically connected with the electrode 79 made of light-transmissive conductive material and be overlapped by the electrode 79. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
