<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To charge a battery efficiently by a charging current of a larger value to the extent that no failure arising from temperature is caused to occur to a charger, when the battery is charged by the charger. <P>SOLUTION: A charger 10 not mounted on a vehicle is provided capable of charging the battery 3 provided on a vehicle 1 by the charging current A from a power source 8. When charging the battery 3, charging modes M1-M4 for charging are changed in sequence with a plurality of prescribed periods of time H1-H5 in the lapse of charging time H. Over almost the entire charging time H, the value of the charging current A of each charging mode M1-M4 is reduced with the lapse of the charging time H. When the temperature T of the charger 10 rises and reaches a predetermined temperature T1, charging by the charging mode M1 is stopped, but the battery is charged by a first lower charging current A1' lower than a first charging current A1 in the preceding charging mode M1 up to the predetermined start period of H2 of the next charging mode M2 that follows the charging mode M1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
