PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for temporarily buffering programs broadcast on a plurality of channels. SOLUTION: The disclosed method includes the steps of: synchronously and temporarily buffering a first program using a first tuner while broadcasting the first program on a first channel; synchronously and temporarily buffering a second program using a second tuner while broadcasting the second program on the second channel after switching from the first channel to the second channel; deciding whether or not the first program has been broadcast longer than a predetermined period of time before switching channels; and synchronously and temporarily buffering the first program, simultaneously broadcast on the first channel, using the first tuner while broadcasting the second program on the second channel in a case where the first program has been broadcast longer than the predetermined period of time before switching channels.
