PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article carrying device capable of preventing a carrying attitude of an article being mounted and supported from getting into trouble with traveling of a stacker crane although it can carry both of a short article and a long article. SOLUTION: This article carrying device is provided with a storage rack, a stacker crane and a control means controlling operation; a pair of position regulation members 57 and 58 taking and regulating the position of the article in the longitudinal direction of a traveling route are arranged by making them respectively correspond to a plurality of article transfer devices; a position regulation member 58 to be positioned on the lower side of an article presence planned region when a long article C is transferred is composed such that its position can be changed to an action position for position regulation and a retraction position retracting downward; the movable position regulation member 58 is changed over to the action position in a short article carriage processing state; and the movable position regulation member 58 is changed over to the retraction position in a long article carriage processing state.
