PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing cost by using a bathtub as an inexpensive mold for forming. SOLUTION: In a vacuum forming method, a sheet S for heat insulation softened by heating by holding the peripheral edge Sa of the sheet is pushed up by the mold 2 for forming in which a suction opening 13 is opened on a forming face 3 corresponding to the shape of the back face of the bathtub, and then, the sheet S for heat insulation is closely stick on the forming face 3 of the mold 2 for forming by vacuum suction, and thereafter, the sheet is removed from the mold to obtain a heat insulation material 6 for covering the back face of the bathtub. The mold 2 for forming consists of a base part 7 on the lower side in which a suction path 10 is provided inside and the lower side 3a of the forming face 3 is formed on the outer peripheral side 7a, and a main part 8 on the upper side of which the upper side 3b of the forming face 3 is formed by cutting off the opening edge part Bb of the bathtub B and by turning reversely upside down under a condition with no outward curved upper edge part. The main part 8 is placed on the base part 7 to connect the boundary parts of both forming faces of the lower side 3a and the upper side 3b, and the suction opening 13 provided on the main part 8 is communicated with the suction path 10 of the base part 7.
