PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner enabling a dust collector to be easily attached and detached to and from a housing part of a vacuum cleaner body, and hardly causing an airtight packing to wear away due to attachment and detachment. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner includes: a packing A13 provided in a suction port 2; a dust collector housing part 3 housing the dust collector 11 including a dust box and a filter part; an outer cover, opening and closing an upper opening part of the dust collector housing part 3; and a motor-driven blower chamber 5 housing a motor-driven blower 4 generating suction air, wherein the filter part of the dust collector 11 communicates with the motor-driven blower chamber 5, air-tightness is achieved by the outer cover 7 and a packing B8 provided at the opening part above the dust collector housing part 3, and when the opening part above the dust collector housing part 3 is closed with the outer cover 7, the dust collector 11 is brought into pressure contact with the packing A13 provided at the suction port 2. Accordingly, the airtight packing between the downstream end face of the dust collector 11 and the front wall surface of the motor-driven blower chamber 5 is eliminated, so that the dust collector 11 can be smoothly attached to and detached from the dust collector storing part 3.
