PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device reduced in the weight of an intermediate shaft, maintaining a function of the intermediate shaft. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device comprises a main shaft connected to a steering wheel, the intermediate shaft 16 arranged between the main shaft and a pinion gear 38 engaged with a rack bar 30 connected to a tie rod, and a motor arranged between the main shaft and the intermediate shaft 16 to provide assist force to the intermediate shaft 16. A torsion bar 34 is arranged between the intermediate shaft 16 and the pinion gear 38. The torsion bar 34 has torsion rigidity smaller than that of the intermediate shaft 16, and when movement of the rack bar 30 reaches the movement limit, the torsion bar 34 receives rotating force to be applied to the intermediate shaft 16 before the intermediate shaft 16 receives.
