The assembly has a movable panel (11) displaceable by sliding in guide rails (20) between a deployable position to cover a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle (1) and a retractable position. A pantograph system guides vertical and horizontal displacement of the movable panel. A driving rope and an element with a driving unit provide displacement of the movable panel. A blocking unit blocks longitudinal displacement of the movable panel during vertical movement of the movable panel. The blocking unit is activated by the pantograph system during vertical displacement of the movable panel.
