<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective evaluation method of evaluating the metal structure of a rare earth containing alloy. <P>SOLUTION: A microscopic structure of an R-T-B magnet alloy cross section is read in as a digital image, a straight line of length L substantially parallel to a freezing face of the metal is drawn on the microscopic structure image, an R<SB>2</SB>T<SB>14</SB>B main phase and an R-rich phase are determined based on a difference between brightness of the main phase and brightness of an R-rich phase crossed with the straight line, and a value (L/N) provided by dividing the straight line of length L by a frequency N with the brightness on the straight line changed from the brightness judged as the R<SB>2</SB>T<SB>14</SB>B main phase up to the brightness judged as the R-rich phase, is evaluated as an R-rich phase interval r, in the evaluation method of evaluating the metal structure of the R-T-B magnet alloy in the present invention. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
