<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely estimate a fundamental frequency by using preknowledge characteristic of a musical instrument when finding the frequency of a sound being generated from an input sound signal by EM algorithm. <P>SOLUTION: A form estimation step 413 selects a peak of a sound likely to be generated out of peaks of weights during sequential updating of weights corresponding to various fundamental frequencies in an E step and an M step 411, so as to satisfy a constraint defined by the sound source structure data 413F.
